Lol... great swords.
I think it might be classified as different weapon on its own. Maybe like 25-50 damage.... but like a bit slower than scythes... and there's like skills that will cause people to get bashed to the sides (5 second k/d) lol... I don't know.

Quoted for truth. I like my shield, why should I have to drop it to use a hammer, The jitte sword is a compromise I guess.

They still can introduce two-handed weapons.
But the problem with that is that they have to create a new weapon sub system. Which means new animations, new 2xSword designs, to balance the stats so that you still get proper benefits, etc, etc.

as much as i agree " 2 handed swords/axes " would be really cool i really doubt it will happend as many said it would take alot of rework skills would be useless suddenly and so on
still its thing there would be really nice and give more dept in the game...

Two handed swords and axes sound like they would work. More power for less defense. A mace would be cool too, but I doubt that would happen.
I agree there is no super cool looking weapon in the game. I liked the super unique weapons of Phantasy Star Online. But it really wouldn't work well for GW.

There are Two handed Swords and Axes, they are under the codename "Hammer".
Anyway, "if Anet Doesnt give me PIRATE NINJA ROBOTS I'm not buying their next chapter, SO THERE"

I wouldnt mind a one-handed hammer.
The problem with all of this, is mainly the attack speed. Damage changes would be easy enough to implent, and probably not overly-difficult to balance.
I always thought the axe and sword animations were the same (dunno, dont use em) so there is really no need to make new animations for them.
If this kind of thing is ever implemented, I wouldnt mind it... but if not, then itll be alot easier for all of us.

My guess is that if Anet does release two-handed swords or axes, it will be under a new Profession.
Hmm, actually, call the scythe and axe, and Nightfall has "two-handed axes."
Problem solved.

You have a interesting perspective... to be judging a game solely on one weapon type. But, if that is what you like....
My guess is that might see it in the future, but not in Nightfall.

You're serious? I could see a crusader class with a mace and shield, but...
Swords and Axes swing faster than hammers, there is a reason behind this. Hammers adrenal skills are comprised of alot of knockdowns. Axes have alot of damage and armor penetration skills, while swords do the most constant damage and can cause alot of conditions with ease.
A mace and a shield, combined with hammer skills would mean a faster swingtime which would result in more adrenaline and more AC for the hammer warriors. In other words, KD warriors would be the only logical choice.
As for great swords, you wouldn't be able to attack as fast and the high cost of the sword adrenal skills would be annoying at times. However I could easily see a Berserker style class that wielded two handed swords and axes.
Nevertheless Dervish was their answer to those two potential and generic classes, in one fell swoop.
I would expect two new caster classes in chapter four, of course I could be wrong. I for one would love to see a Warlock and some sort of a Mageblade class. For the latter they could adapt the magic system from the Sword of Truth novels, with attributes like Additive magic, Subtractive Magic, their primary attribute (something like Willpower) could have to do with enchantments/hexes, such as their enchant/hex spells would have a 2%/point chance of not being removed by removal spells.

isnt there some psychological thing to be said here about this guy 'needing a bigger sword' to enhance his gaming experience...?
Ill just stick with my hammer. Bring your big swords, itll clink louder when you get Hammer Bashed.

Wow who knew you could lose interest over a sword. Ive had a Ranger since chapter 1 release and a rit for chapter 2. And I still have to say im not bored yet. Though my life doesnt consist of sitting infront of the comp playing GW, but im still pretty active. Doing more than most super active players. But i've explored all of GW and try different prof combinations, so that allows me to go back and do some things over. This is from a pve stand point, i'm also getting into more pvp too.
I've slowed down some playing WoW, but thats because i'm waiting for Nightfall for new quests and stuff, atm I'm just getting ready for it :P

It's easy to implement a two-handed sword, two-handed axe or two-handed trident. Just put them in the polearm category and use Scythe's skills. All it takes is for artists to design sword/axe/trident looking "scythes".

I don't understand why there is no two-handed swords, or why you cant carry your weapons on your back while not fighting like in oblivion and in wow...
Anet just wont listen to us. this has been wanted for so long. like since alpha... they just keep ignoring it
